Hailing from the Great Lake state of Michigan, Turtledoves is the lifelong musical collaboration between husband/wife Alex and Ashley McGrath. The duo has been making music together for (going on) 15 years - spending most of their 20's fronting and touring with anthemic/orchestral rock outfit, "the Soil & the Sun". After splitting off from the band several years ago, A&A have restlessly explored a myriad of ideas and concepts for a new project that ultimately became "Turtledoves" - with an intimate, minimal, dark, and vocal forward sound. Voices float over a bed of swirling arpeggios, deep drones, and driving pulses - grounded by guitar and piano at the core. Lyrically, Turtledoves weaves together thoughts on spirituality, love, adventure, and ultimate meaning.
