Lynne Frederickson Quartet

  • North Star Lounge 301 N. Fifth Ave Ann Arbor United States (map)

The Lynne Frederickson Quartet is brewing up a spooky show to get you in the Halloween spirit!

Lynne will serve up a mix of spooky American Songbook gems and swingin’ standards, backed by a wicked rhythm section: William Michael Bennett on keys, Kurt Krahnke on upright bass, and Bob Sweet on drums.

Costumes welcome, spirits encouraged (North Star can help with that!), and toe-tapping guaranteed!

Lynne Frederickson is a versatile vocalist with a background spanning musical theatre, choral singing, big-band jazz, and folk music. In addition to leading her jazz trio, she is a featured vocalist with the genre-bending Dorkestra, one-half of the Americana duo Root Cause Analysis, and a backup singer with the Ralph McKee Blues Band.

Pianist William Bennett has had the honor of sharing the stage with many notable musicians including Billy Childs, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, Liberty Devitto, Jon Hendricks, and Paquito D’Rivera. William received a BA in jazz performance at the University of Toledo under the mentorship of Tad Weed. He performs solo and with various ensembles all over the southeast Michigan area, stylistically ranging from ragtime to rock to modern pop and jazz.

Bassist Kurt Krahnke has been a stalwart on the Detroit area music scene for over 40 years and has worked with many jazz luminaries. Among the highlights of his performances are those with Sheila Jordan, Ray Bryant, James Moody, Joe Henderson, Steve Turre, and Clark Terry, in addition to the many great artists with which southeast Michigan and Northern Ohio have been blessed.

Percussionist Bob Sweet has been part of the Detroit/Ann Arbor music scene since the seventies. He grew up in Detroit and was molded by the city's jazz, blues, soul, and rock-and-roll cultures. There he played with the Sun Messengers, Faruq Z. Bey, Juanita McCray, and Roy Brooks' Aboriginal Percussion Choir. Bob leads his own trio/quartet and has played with many of the top jazz players in the Ann Arbor area.
