Earthwork Music Collective believes in the intrinsic power of music to raise both community and self-awareness. Comprised of musicians, teachers, healers, farmers, water protectors, and community organizers, they encourage cooperation and collaboration, using music as a tool to serve, heal, inspire and empower. This monthly series features members from all around MI converging to create cosmic collabs, cultivate lasting relationships with our community, and elevate environmental and social justice movements.

From the moment he opens his mouth to sing, Eric O’Daly captures the crowd, guiding us through moments of ecstatic outburst, pastoral melancholy, and churning questioning. With the sparkling eyes of a good friend sharing an old joke, O’Daly transforms himself to fit the wide-ranging styles of music he performs. Rich and evocative, his songs are woven together by the threads of authenticity and open-heartedness.

Ben Traverse (they/them) has been a gentle steward of tradition for over a decade. Their voice, rising like mist from Michigan’s northern woods, carries echoes of working-class ballads long etched into the earth. Traverse roves across the Great Lakes Basin purveying the finest sea shanties, bluegrass, Celtic, and old time music and sharing the history from which they came.

Elisabeth Pixley-Fink leads with her hot pink heart. Inhabiting a charming friction of bratty garage rock and emotion-focused folk, her music hits you in the chest with trust and hunger, and then wraps you in a tight hug. Like if Taylor Swift were 5’5”, queer, and from the Midwest. Or like if the inside of a hot pink peony could hold you. 

Elisabeth views each performance as a unique moment in time to bring in audiences and build IRL community. Her current album, Heartskin, was recorded on tape in Detroit, inspired by a masterful blend of riot grrrl mix tapes, clear ambient harmonies, and the poetics of queer experience.
